Battle of the Bands

In front of the huge crowd and the panel of judges composed of
Mr. Robert G. de la Cruz, Executive Director of Tao at Kalikasan
Development Center, Inc., Ms. Abby Reyes of Moving Heads
Production, and Mr. Giovanni Concha, manager of the Lila Band,
each band with full enthusiasm and passion express and reveal
their love for music and nature through their composition
performances.
Banana Nation got the chance to perform first, followed by the
Infinite Mercy. KAMIKAZEE rocked thereafter, who shiver the crowd
with their most loved songs, DOBIEDOO, SEXY, SEXY, and NARDA.
Jay, its vocalist, also shared humorous stories which captured the
interests of the crowd. Then it was AYINDAZKAI and My 7 year Old
Girlfriend, turn to show what they got. Next, was ROCKSTEDDY with
Mahal Kita, Super Nova, and Super Hero and the last three bands,
Cathexis, Samaria and Woodland.
While computing the scores Lila Band and Maniac Kiss continue
to play and entertain the crowd and finally with the tribal music of
Tribora was the awarding of cash prizes. Mrs. Nenita Rosas, one of
the Board of Trustees of TKDCI and Mr. Robert G. de la Cruz,
handed the prizes to the winners.
“Talisuyo” of Cathexis got the 2nd runner-up award., 1st runner-
up award to SAMARIA’S “Makakarating Din” and the Woodland with
their “Kalikasan” was the champion for this year’s Battle of the
Bands.

“Awit at Sigaw ng Kalikasan” is an alternative
pop concert wherein eight band finalists
competed. The competition aims to promote
conservation, rehabilitation and preservation of the
environment and natural resources through music.
Original compositions relevant to the objectives
have been asked from the interested bands, as
part of the qualifying requirements. Screening prior
to the event also occurred.
Screening/ Elimination: November 10 &17,
2007
The screening took place at Red Damien
Studios for two (2) consecutive Saturdays, from 9:
00 am to 2:00pm. Mr. Robert G. de la Cruz, Mr.
Ronald U. Ceblano, and Mr. Joseph Giron IV, were
the screening jurors.
The eight (8) finalists were AYINDAZKAI, a group
of five from Makati City; JZE, group of four high
school students from Miriam College; BANANA
NATION, group of high school students from
Ateneo de Manila University; WOODLAND, a group
of seven individuals from Fairview; CATHEXIS,
group of six college students from University of the
Philippines Diliman; MY SEVEN YEAR OLD
GIRLFRIEND, a group young professional from
Novaliches; INFINITE MERCY, group of students
from Manila Montessori International College; and
SAMARIA, group of four college students from
different universities.
Cocktail Party: First leg of Performance
As finalists, the said eight (8) bands performed
in the Cocktail Party held at St. John Marie Vianney
Multi-Purpose Covered Court, San Jose Seminary,
Ateneo de Manila University.






Battle of the Bands: Final Performance
Night
The most awaited moment finally came which
gave the bands their time to shine and to
showcase their talents.
Celebrity Ronald a.k.a. “Joaqui” Tupas and
TKDCI volunteer, Ms. Krimzee Rose G. Deguito,
hosted the event.
To start the music rolling and to set the
mood of the crowd, Maniac Kiss, a band of UP
Fine Arts Professors and December Coffee
gave a sample of sensational music, which
thrilled everybody.
