VOLUNTEERS MOBILIZATION AND ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
|
1. Mobilizing the Youth
It is strategic for the TKDCI to mobilize the community youth, students
and young professionals because they will be the primary work force
and volunteers of the Tao at Kalikasan Development Center, Inc. At
the same time, they are also the future of this country and the kind of
society they will help shape today is the society that they will inherit
tomorrow.
The Tao at Kalikasan will provide a venue for the youth to explore,
cultivate and demonstrate their skills, talents, intelligence and
wisdom. It will identify and create opportunities for growth, learning,
and exploration that are central to preparing the youth for adulthood
and for a future as socially responsible entrepreneurs, workers, and
patriotic leaders of our country. It will assist in developing productive
relationship between the youth and their respective communities and
the society as a whole and integrate individual or personal
development with societal change or transformation.
TKDCI aims to help the youth to revive and practice positive Filipino
values as their tools for advancing development of the environment
and the economy. Among these values are volunteerism, bayanihan
or cooperation, team spirit, honesty, initiative, and the like, anchored
on love of country or patriotism and on the task of nation-building.
The TKDCI also recognizes that the youth grow up in communities
and therefore all youth programs and activities must be responsive to
the needs and progressive direction of the communities and of
society, and must be an integral or indispensable part of the
communities’ and of society’s development programs. Lastly, the
youth development program must address the environment and the
overall social, economic and political situation in which development
occurs, and the social, economic and political issues and problems
that affect development. Although the youth need support and
opportunities, they should be given the freedom to make intelligent
decisions by providing them broader and unbiased perspectives on
the social, economic, political, cultural, and environmental contexts.
