53 hectares for agro-reforestation granted
 Tao at Kalikasan Development Center Inc. (TKDCI) was granted  53
hectares of land for its agro-reforestation project by the Department of
Environment and Natural Resources Region IV-A
through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).

 Fr. Romeo J. Intengan, S.J., TKDCI Chairperson and Mr. Eduardo B.
Principe, Regional Executive Director-OIC signed the MOA at the
DENR Office last February 13, 2008.

 The TKDCI will develop and manage an agro-reforestation
project within the Kaliwa Watershed Forest Reserve as part of its  
Environment Development Program and to support the government's
reforestation program in line with DENR Administrative Order No.
2007-17.

 Fr. Romeo Intengan, in his brief speech said, "We teach that one of
the values of good living in a society is respect for the integrity of
creation".

 "We want our people to have the fullness of life. We want the
economy, the culture and the political system to support a good quality
of life," he said.
 He also stressed that if the environment is not fully taken care of,
resources are not preserved and promoted;  thus, the quality of life is
degraded, the economic system become less functional.

 TKDCI was created "to promote comprehensive human development,
which has to include care for the integrity of creation" he added.

 Mr. Eduardo B. Principe views the cultivation of the area as the
organization's first major step in showing the people that they can be
successful in bringing back balance in the environment.  "In this way,
we can easily convince other people to take care of the environment,"
he said.

 Other members of the Board of Trustees and volunteers of TKDCI,
together with other representatives of DENR Region IV-A witnessed
the MOA signing.
